RE: Best platform for Informix?
Posted in 2000
I've been avoiding dishing in my .02 I've had more hardware failures with Sun than either HP or IBM. I've had HP disks physically fall off a counter and hit the floor and still keep running (during the whole thing) and I love HP-UX. I've used an S70 with Oracle and vowed never to go there again - although I suspect the issue was Oracle and not the IBM which a couple of Informix worthies swear by. cheers j. > -----Original Message----- > From: Wolf P'ter [mailto:peter.wolf@capsys.hu] > Sent: Friday, November 17, 2000 7:30 AM > To: 'Dirk Moolman'; informix-list > Subject: RE: Best platform for Informix? > > > I have head that Informix uses Sun platform for developing. > It means that Sun is the best _supported_ platform. > > -----Eredeti 'zenet----- > Felad': Dirk Moolman [mailto:dirkm@reach.co.za] > Elk'ldve: 2000. november 17. 9:07 > C'mzett: informix-list > T'rgy: FW: Best platform for Informix? > > > I think Informix will disagree with you on this one, but > they won't admit > it though - politics, partnership, etc ........ > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-informix-list@iiug.iiug.org > [mailto:owner-informix-list@iiug.iiug.org]On Behalf Of Ed Brown > Sent: Thursday, November 16, 2000 3:09 PM > To: informix-list@iiug.org > Subject: Re: Best platform for Informix? > > > HP9000/HP-UX is well supported by Informix, and very reliable > hardware. > > "Watson, Paul" <Paul.Watson@aggregate.com> wrote in message > news:8v0ab2$mc$1@news.xmission.com... > > > > I like Sun and have never had a serious problem.
