User encountered errors when trying to add dbspaces or chunks in IDS 11.50TC1 on Windows, receiving "shared memory not initialized" errors from onspaces and "could not fork server connection" errors from ontape, despite the engine appearing to run normally. Suggested solutions included verifying the INFORMIXSERVER environment variable matched the running instance and upgrading to the latest fixpack (TC9W3).

Dear friends of the forum:
Again I, with my problems with the IDS 11.50TC1 for Windows.
I could solve my problem of connectivity, which had said in a previous post.
The problem was not the SQL Editor, but according to the AGS Server Studio had
to change the host name for "0.0.0.0" for the server to recognize all incoming
connections, local and remote.
Thanks to Art Kagel for your help in this question.
I now presents another problem that puzzles me even more.
I have the engine running normally, but when I want to add a Dbspace or chunk,
I get an error saying "shared memory not initialized for INFORMIXSERVER
'ol_xxxxxx'" but on closer examination, the engine still online.
I would appreciate any help you can give me.
Regards!

What precise command is getting you this error?
What's 'onstat -' saying?
And (unrelated to this problem): WHY ...TC1 ??? If it must be 11.50=20
(which is OLD), then try and get latest fixpack (TC9W3).
Andreas

Hello Paul!
Thanks for your answer. You know, I thought the same thing at the time, but
the folder where it is installed on server is in the path.
In addition, the onstat command works perfectly, and is within the same folder
as the onspaces and ontape.
Regards!
Gustavo
