We archive ->to disk, compress the archive, and transfer it to disk on a remote node for ->off-site storage. I've done this both ways several times and it is very ->robust. We do the same thing with cpio for file systems (source code, etc). ->Just be *really sure* that you have enough space on the disk to hold the ->entire archive/log, if you don't then you will be in trouble. ;) Careful... While it may be robust, unless you're using onarchive, archiving to disk is NOT supported by Informix. This means if you call Tech Support with an archive or restore problem and you are backing up to an unsupported device, they will not help you. Look before you leap!
