Firstly thanks for all your suggestions... Just to let you know, with all normal IT probs, it 'fixed itself'.... Well, it didn't really, firstly I was missing something from the informix.ini AND there IS a long delay (for some reason) before an initial connection is made. This isn't related to Informix as such, as just using Telnet gives me a 20-30 second or so pause before a connection is made. Suffice to say, it now works and thanks for all your suggestions. BTW, the reason for setting up this environment is to re-write the application to get away from NewEra, we need a 'test' enviornment of our own which is what I have been doing. Cheers Jamie
