264: Could not write to a temporary file.

I am runing a big query on IDS 10
select min(ds_start_dt) from inv_gvar
where ingest_dt < "2006-08-01 00:00:00"
and ds_start_dt>"1970-03-23 00:00:00.000"
inv_gvar is a view.
After a while, it reports
264: Could not write to a temporary file.
131: ISAM error: no free disk space
then , I setup DBTEMP,
export DBTEMP=/dbbackup/tmp-links
it still reports same error.
/dbbackup/tmp-links has lots of space and I watch it did not use it.
What should I do?
Thanks,
Quman
Hi, one thing:
It could be that informix creates a temporary table rather than temporary
files.
In this case, the DBSPACETEMP var should be used (or a preset tempdbs).

Hi,
By default, if there are no temp dbspaces defined, informix will use /tmp
(at least at my experience).
DBTEMP can be set on the client-side, and must point to a dir on the server,
which
- must be writable by informix !
- should have enough space
The better way is to create one or more temp dbspaces and set these in
onconfig.
Look in /tmp on the server if the temp files are created there. If this
occurs, the DBTEMP was ignored, maybe because of permission problems.

HI,
Interesting! when I did export DBSPACETEMP=/dbbackup/tmp-links, it
finished!
I watched , this time, it did NOT use either DBSPACETEM specified in
onconfig file or the one I just set up as ENV variable. Do not know why.
Very curious!
Taank you all and have great weekend!
