If you're getting a five second delay, I assume the same code is returning in sub second delays over NET4. Sounds like NET5 is only a symptom. Perhaps, using FTP's PC/TCP 2.2 (if you have it) is worth experimentation; I understand that 2.3 now has a fix to make its winsock.dll behave. If you don't have this patch, I'd guess you've upgraded from 2.2 at some time - that's usually the only way 2.3 works at all with NET5. Is ViewPoint slow too? Rest assured that your machine config is more than adequate and that there's no doubt about NET5 performance. Sorry I can't be of more help, what did the local Informix tech support have to suggest? This is pure speculation; are you running the 1.00.WE1 release? This shipped with NET5 in the box. If you're running WC1 (pre runtime) then it's time to update (free) or if you're running WD1 there's theoretically no difference from WD1 to WE1 - it's just maybe something to try. At the moment, I'd be looking to configure a plain vanilla machine with TCP 2.2 and nothing else in memory and see what happens.
