We are going to upgrade our OnLine server from 5.08 to IDS 7.24.UC7-1, and we would like your input in the following 2 options: a) upgrade the online version on the production machine, b) install the new version onto development machine, and then migrate the data from the production server to it, making it the production server instead of the development machine Would you please fill us in with the pros and cons of these two approaches, and maybe any protential problems that we might encounter. Thanks, -- Janet Leung E-mail: jleung@usc.edu ISD USC, Los Angeles, CA 90089-0251

Test thoroughly, mainly large reports/queries which make need tuning. Also doing development against the new version will allow you to find any problems before go-live. d) When ready upgrade online version on the production machine. -- David Williams
