Depends on the type of logging used, ANSI, Informix logged, Informix non-logged ? If it is a record-lock did it occur via a cursor ? In general locks are released when the transaction is completed by COMMIT or ROLLBACK in a logged database, or upon encountering a semi-colon (;) in a non-logged database. Informix manuals are very good on this subject, check out the tutorials and the sysadmin guide for a complete explanation. have a nice day.
