Succinctly: No. To do anything would require some C functions to be called to keep track of windows as they are opened and closed. These might make use of the undocumented global _EFwindow *topwin (this does not constitute documentation), and they might make use of the C generated for the 4GL statement CURRENT WINDOW IS xyz to achieve the desired result. Such code might break if Informix changed it's implementation at some future date, but that is fairly unlikely. What I'd do is revise the code which displays to the status window so that it recorded the current window (a C function), switched to the status window, did the display work there, and then restored the previous current window (another C function).
