Re: Configuring remote tcp connections.

Follow these steps.
1) Add/Set DBSERVERALIASES in $ONCONFIG file. (e.g. DBSERVERALIASES
porto_tcp)
2) Then add entry for 'server_tcp' in $INFORMIXSQLHOSTS
For e.g. => porto_tcp onsoctcp hostname sqlexec_tcp_port
3) update the /etc/services file and set sqlexec_tcp_port to a unused port
number.
4) re-start the engine.
You should be able to use this new porto_tcp as INFORMIXSERVER for a
remote clients.

Nilesh.

Configuring remote tcp connections.
Hi group,
I need to configure my Informix system to accept remote tcp
connections. This Informix DB is running on an AIX server.
Here is the output of /informix/etc/sqlhosts file:
porto onipcshm portonova sqlexec
lisboa onipcshm portonova lis_sqlexec
euro onipcshm portonova euro_sqlexec
As you can see my system only accepts shared memory. Now I want to
connect from windows clients and I need to configure TCP connections.
I was reading about it and someone told that I have to configure
sqlhosts file.
If I append the next line will it work?
porto olsoctcp portonova sqlexecI search inside /etc/services and it already has sqlexec reference, by
the way, it's using port 1525.
Can I have "porto" dbservername parameter defined twice?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
