Hello, I am trying to update the statistics high on a table. I get the
following errors:
567: Cannot write sorted rows. 2: No such file or directory
I have a Sparc Solaris 7 (11/99 build) with 128 mb ram. Onstat -d
gives:
INFORMIX-Universal Server Version 9.14.UC6 -- On-Line -- Up 01:31:50
-- 31584 Kbytes

a798b38 9 4 0 500000 499997 PO-
/opt2/informixTempSpace
9 active, 2047 maximum
Looks like there is room, informix sees all of the dbspaces.
File permissions are all 660, informix:informix
Any ideas?
Thanks

If you have PSORT_DBTEMP set the sort-work files will be written to the
filesystems listed in that variable. Also if you do not have PSORT_DBTEMP
set
the sort-work files are written to the dbspaces listed in DBSPACETEMP else
to
the rootdb. Check these areas during the update stats run.
Another thing. Are you trying to UPDATE STATISTICS HIGH on the whole
database at once? This takes HUGE sort space and is MUCH slower than doing
all tables individually, in addition you need not do HIGH for all columns of
all tables.
See the recommended suite of UPDATE STATS commands in the Performance
Guide or get my utility dostats or one of the other UPDATE STATS utilities
available from the IIUG Software Repository. Dostats is part of the package
utils2_ak which I submitted to the Repository.
