Re: I-Net Configuration

I need to stop the spreading of mis-information. This guy rcline19@server.iadfw.net (RobertCline II) said the following in regards to I-NET. CONNECTIVITY INFORMATION A valid "sqlhosts" file will need to be created in the \\INFORMIX\\ETC directory. PC/TCP (FTP Software) NOTE: Other FTP Software may also work but INFORMIX recommends PC/TCP and that is what we have installed. If you need information on other FTP Software then you need to contact the vendor that you bought the software from. _______________________________________________ I guess he must own stock in FTP Software (is it called that anymore?). I am assuming where he said "FTP Software" he meant TCP/IP software. I can find nowhere in the documentation for I-NET where INFORMIX recommends using PC/TCP. Can this be in some ancient version of I-NET prior to when it started using WINSOCK (check the copyright). I have had great success with the following stacks: Walker Richer and Quinn Reflection Network Series. TCP-IP for WFW. Windows NT. Netmanage NEWT stuff. Medium level of stress involving: Trumpet Winsock PC/TCP (Mostly due to the fact that they have many many versions of WINSOCK.DLL floating around) Frustrating experiences: Anything with NOVELL in the name. NOVELL may know some things but WINSOCK support does not seem to be at the top of its list. I have always been able to get it to work but after many many searches for updated software. Based on my past (and current) experiences with INFORMIX I would not consider anything they say about the PC world to be reliable. They do not even know what products they sell themselves (TAKE 32 BIT I-NET for example).
