Virtual segments

Hi, An interesting problem. I have an app which has mulitple connections to the database (IIF9.21 on Soaris 5.7), depending upon which service the app is runining, via JDBC using shared connection pools. All is good and well until we start proccessing orders via the app(java) involves inserts and updates to two tables. The inserts and updates contain started varchar, etc and xml into a smart blob. For each order proccess the vistual memory used increases by 250 to 320 blocks, while the no of connections to the database remains constant. However, at no point is the virtual memory released back. The number of virtual segments keeps increasing unitl all available memory on the server is used or it reaches SHMTOTAL. Does anyone have any ideas of how to try and track down this small problem, as I have ran out of ideas. Hi,
how about monitoring the virtual memory ?
It would be nice if you could tell us
the memory pool, which is increasing.
Have a look at the last column of the
following command:
onstat -g ses
Use the session id (SID) of the session you
want to monitor and enter
onstat -g ses SID
and redirect the output to a file. Compare
several files and try to find the problem.
Best regards
Stefan
