Determining which version of IDS has been installe

I have a question about determining which version of Informix that I have
installed on a already installed box. Both Workgroup Edition and Enterprise
Edition are grouped together in the product download. During the licensing
portion of the install, you have the opportunity to select Workgroup,
Enterprise or just accept the default (which I am not sure which one is
default).
So, I have the default, whatever that is. When I run onstat -V I get the
following:
IDS 11.50.FC3.
Is there an easy way to tell if that is Workgroup or Enterprise?

Hi Larry,
did you have a look in the files $INFORMIXDIR/etc/*.cr
probably you find what you need (I cant check for the moment)

Treat what follows as semi-informed speculation - not oracular pontification!
I don't often install Workgroup Edition (read, "I don't think I've
ever done so") - but I believe that if it was Workgroup Edition, then
the version should end 'WE', similar to Developer Edition ending 'DE'
and Express Edition ending 'XE'. However, this could be a
misunderstanding of the way that editions are branded.

I'm afraid there's no way to determine which version was installed

Let me clarify that there is no difference in the Workgroup or
Enterprise software packages. The TAR file you get in either case is
identical. Also the OP mentions entering licensing information during
the install; I don't think I've entered a software key or other
licensing information since V7 so I don't think he has this correct
(at least this is my experience with the Linux and Windows ports).
Here is a quote from IBM customer service: "The binaries for Workgroup
and Enterprise are the same; We do not have anything in the code which
will limit the customer from using HDR, exceeding their agreed upon
number of users, etc. We expect that they will adhere to their license
agreement however, we have some built-in auditing features with 11.5
that will allow us to determine if they have gotten outside of their
agreement. Very easy for an auditor to determine their compliance. If
they are unsure what they are entitled to, they should get in touch
with their sales rep to confirm what their licensing agreement allows"
So be very careful in how you set up and use the product since you
don't want to raise the ire of IBM's Software Compliance group!
What distinguishes one from the other is the license that you hold
with IBM and how you use the product. Take note that IBM goes out of
their way to make it difficult for you to understand the restrictions
of the Workgroup license. Don't go looking at
http://www-01.ibm.com/software/data/informix/ids/ids-ed-choice/ with
hopes to find this information since the information on this page is
missing many of the restrictions. I had opened a PMR on this very
issue three months ago requesting that they correct the information
since it is misleading. And looking at it today I see that nothing
has been done to correct the issue.
You must get the license and read it closely, and even then there is
language in the license that can be misinterpreted. You can find the
license agreements here
http://www-03.ibm.com/software/sla/sladb.nsf/searchlis/?searchview&searchord
er=4&searchmax=0&query=(informix).
So what you need to do is be very careful with your onconfig file and
I recommend that you do not install the ER and High Performance Loader
options during the install to avoid and possible problem in the
future.
And even better open a case with IBM and request that they make a
proper port for Workgroup!
