Hi Don, Currently, we are using a product called HA+ by Fulltime Software (now owned by Legato). The servers need to have a dedicated fiber-optic connection to check for each others heartbeat. The failover is done in such a way that when there is a hardware or process failure (such as the Informix server), the other server takes over the failed server's hostname, ip-address and of course the disk array. (Yes, the disk array is connected to both servers) Then it starts all the processes that were previously running on the failed server. It isn't cheap though. See http://www.legato.com/Products/html/legato_ha.html Hope this helps, Zandy * Sent from RemarQ http://www.remarq.com The Internet's Discussion Network * The fastest and easiest way to search and participate in Usenet - Free!
