Currently we use r4gl, but you know this is a big task if every program needs recompile. We want to use makefile. Is there a way to translate r4gl schema to makefile? Possibly we need to play with syspgm4gl and syspg4gl? JL: It is a good idea to use MAKE rather than the syspgm4gl database. I'm sure that several people have in the past produced makefile generators, but I can't see them in the IIUG archives where I'd hope to find them. I gave up on the database system immediately after it was released, so I've never bothered to write such a tool - I always used raw make. There is a tool in the archives by Tim Schaefer and myself which does a reasonable job of creating a makefile for you, but it is not database driven - see http://www.iiug.org/members/memb_software/archive/inx_util_make_mks. I'm not immediately sure whether it would be easier to write the I4GL report to generate the makefile from scratch or whether it would be simpler to generate the input data for make_mk or make6mk.jl (which are the programs alluded to above). It isn't very hard to do, either way, but I don't know where there is source code already available to do it.
