RE: Maximum Nr. of extents ?
Posted in 2000
There is no hard and fast limit on the number of extents for a table. Approximate limits are: * For 2K ports, 200 extents. * For 4K ports, 400 extents. The limitation occurs when the "partition" page in the dspaces's TBLSpace tablespace fills. That depends upon a number of factors, including: 1) Is the table fragmented? 2) Are indexes attached or detached? 3) Page size (2K or 4K). 4) Number of "special" columns (varchar or blob) 5) Number of index key fields. Thank you guys, I got a gift from a previous DBA: I have a table with 385 extents and over 40 million records. I better do something about it fast. Are you guys hiring ? :-) Patricia In article <8uc7rf$2ck$1@nnrp1.deja.com>, patricia_br@my-deja.com wrote: > Hi guys, > > Anyway we can find out the maximum number of extents that a specific > table can reach ? > > Let me know, > Pati > > Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ > Before you buy. > Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
