Is there a way to pass in a string >with an embedded blank? If I underdstand the question correctly, you have an imput parameter with strings in it (not in the first or last positions, but inside, like "Relational Database Systems". In this case I'm surprises that it works without the spaces ("RelationalDatabaseSystems") passed in, but I think you mean that when you pass in a company whose name has no spaces in it, it runs fine (if not, send sample code and examples of what does and does not work). Anyway, put the string in quotes so that ACE knows it to be one long string instead of several short ones. So instead of passing in: Relational Database Systems pass in: "Relational Database Systems" Users complain about having to add the quotes? Do it for them in a shell: echo "Enter company name: \\c" read cname cname=\\"$cname\\" sacego whatever $cname ======================================================================= Dennis J.
