RDBMS Comparisons
Answered: green (solid confidence) — A community RDBMS-comparison chart request; Art Kagel supplies detailed, authoritative Informix (IDS 7.3x/IDS.2000/XPS/SE) limits and features, IBM's Blair Adamache supplies DB2 data, and the original poster explicitly thanks contributors and republishes the chart with the Informix and DB2 data incorporated.

Not a problem report but a request for help: the poster circulated a wide feature/limits comparison chart of RDBMSes (Sybase, Oracle, Informix, DB2, Interbase, Ingres, PostgreSQL, Teradata, etc.), mainly aimed at Intel/Linux and BSD platforms, and asked readers to fill in the blanks. Replies complained about line wrapping (he reposted a semicolon-delimited version and declined to post a binary attachment), suggested adding InterSystems Caché, and supplied data: Art Kagel gave detailed limits for Informix IDS 7.3, IDS.2000/9.20, XPS 8.x and SE 7.30, and another poster supplied DB2 6.1 figures and pricing. No single conclusion or "best" product was reached.

Hello, in choosing a DBMS, I've built a little chart. Any help in filling in the blanks would be much appreciated. NOTE: This chart is quite wide, and may wrap viciously on some of your newsreaders. On a more serious note, you have missed off Cache from Intersystems. I think that you will find it's numbers quite interesting (you may need a few more columns for O/S and H/w platforms though). look at www.edbms.com

SPARC/Solaris and Alpha/Unix would be considered but not as favourably. (which is why almost everything listed is Linux)
Maybe post a attachment is better. Loki wrote: > Hello, in choosing a DBMS, I've built a little chart.
