RE: Informix comparison to other databases

There is no comparison. INF beets them all. But then we will always find the Ora... people that chunks massive hardware to resolve there performance problems. I did a test about 3 years ago with ONLINE5 and ORACLE7 to insert a certain amount of records. This was on a single CPU Pentium server. Delphi + ODBC was used. Informix took 15 seconds where ORACLE took more than 2 minutes. This is not a true test because a lot of the ODBC drives really sucks. INFORMIX 7+ is multithreaded designed a will run much better or 2+more CPU's. Oracle will try.... -----Original Message----- From: panettal@mc-mc.com [SMTP:panettal@mc-mc.com] Sent: Tuesday, March 28, 2000 9:56 PM To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Informix comparison to other databases Has anyone done/seen a database comparison between Informix and Progress or Oracle and Progress. My company is trying to evaluate a Progress database. I am trying to gather some information as I have no experience with Progress. Thanks for all your help in advance.
