Why can't you ask whoever built or supports the database? Otherwise talk to users about how the screens from the application work and read the code of the application. Keep going back to the users to confirm how the code works. If you understand the application screens and what code goes with each screen than you can reverse engineer the database tables. Noone can help you more then the developers who build the application.
