XPS failover
Posted in 1998
All, Can anyone tell me how Informix XPS handles failover? The XPS Tech Brief on Informix's website describes Informix XPS on a clustered system as having an Informix database server (called a coserver) running on each node of a cluster. Each coserver then has access to its own disk and "coserver-a" cannot directly access data on the disk controlled by "coserver-b" (for example). Now, Informix says that, in the event of a node failure, a coserver on another node can access the data previously controlled by the failed coserver. Can anyone tell me how this is possible and what it takes? Are coservers paired-up with a "primary" and a "failover standby" configuration? If not, does the coserver that takes over the failed-coserver's data need to do a fastrecovery to take over new data? Any info is appreciated.
