Start by working out the schema of your new database. Then either
extract the old data to flat ASCII delimited files matching the new
schema, if possible, or in the old schema. In the former case you can
use dbaccess's load command to load the data into its new tables. In
the latter case you may be able to write dbload command scripts to
extract the data from the old schema format files to load the new
files. If not you will have to write custom ESQL or 4GL code to
reformat the data and load the new tables. Either way unloading to a
standard format, like ASCII delimited is the first step. (BTW Informix
expects that the last field in an ASCII delimited record end in a field
terminator followed by a record terminator (NL) many databases do not
write that trailing field terminator so you may have to post process
the output files before being able to load them.)
