Re: 5.0 Engines with 4.1 tools

We've had problems mixing our development environment with ESQL/C 5.0 and 4GL 4.1. We produce local libraries with these products then use the libs in 4GL and ESQL code. Since the libraries delivered with ESQL/C 5.0 and 4GL 4.1 are different, the linking phase screws up. We had to drop back to ESQL/C 4.1 to solve this problem. Note that it's possible to tweek the c4gl script in informix/bin/c4gl so that the ESQL/C 5.1 libraries were also searched but this leads to insedious problems, at least when dealing with cursors and forms. I tried it :(. Other problems with Online 5.0 which I know about (It may be a repeat since I've recently discovered this notes group). - Memory Leak (Bug # 15191; sqlda stuct not released). - IStar and Synonym link problems: reports which create temp tables & sql queries which produce derived variables (Bug #s ?). - Float fields produce rounded results when multiplied by an integer (Bug # 13836).
