Date modification & Informix Online

We have considered doing this at our site on our Sun E3000 running IDS 7.31, solaris 2.6 (test environment). Our system administrator has expressed concerns of pushing the clock ahead and back again. Has anyone else tried this at their site, having a similar configuration to ours, that can share their experience? Thanks. -----Original Message----- From: Neil Truby [mailto:ntruby@netcomuk.co.uk] Sent: Tuesday, June 01, 1999 9:05 AM To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Re: Date modification & Informix Online We've done this on test servers multiple times without any detrimental effect on UNIX or Informix. We did stop the UNIX servers, change the date then re-start the boxes. Maybe you're not going to be so rigorous. But it worked for us. We also went through a battery of Y2K testing and reset the date on our HP-UX boxes several times, each time bringing up multiple instances of OnLine 7.3. We experienced no problems with the databases at all with each forward looking date reset. The only item I would point out is to make sure that your DBCENTURY environment variable is set properly, so OnLine knows how to handle at two digit year (01), if you indeed pass two digit years to the engine for processing. >McAndrews, Carleen <CAvant@safetycenter.navy.mil> wrote in message news:7jrevr$ok4$1@news.xmission.com... > > We have considered doing this at our site on our Sun E3000 running IDS 7.31, > solaris 2.6 (test environment).
