Re: Running dbaccess remotely

You are unable to run dbaccess from host B because dbaccess is not in your
PATH in host B because Infomix is not installed on host B. Since you are
using Perl I would suggest using DBI and DBD::Informix Perl modules to make
the remote connection (they are downloadable from CPAN). The other
(probably quicker) option is to install Informix (to be able to run
dbaccess) on host B but keep your database on host A and connect remotely.
You would need to make sure that your /etc/services and /etc/hosts files on
host B contain references to host A, but you probably have already done
that.

Subject: Running dbaccess remotely
I'm a newbie in Informix and is desperately looking for a solution to
the following problem
I have:
1) I'm running Informix (7.x) on host A.
2) I'm trying to run dbaccess (on host A) remotely from host B.
Qn: how can I do it?
A bit of background to this problem:
Host B is actually a Web server containing some perl scripts. These perl
scripts are invoked by the web server to get data from host A. The perl
script uses dbaccess to do so. I did my development with both Infromix
and web server on the same host, everything is OK. In the production
env, I hit a problem: the perl script complains that dbaccess not
found. I have no idea how to fix this problem as Informix is still very
alien to me....:-<
If you have any idea on how to fix this problem, would really
appreciate if you can show me the light! I'm desperate for a
solution...THANKS in advance!
Warmest regards,
Yew
