DBD::Informix connect string

Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to remotely connect to an Informix db server. Locally, everything works just fine: $dbh = DBI -> connect ('dbi:Informix:bg@on_gandalf', 'user', 'pwd') But when specifically mentioning the hostname (still on the same system): $dbh = DBI -> connect ('dbi:Informix://gandalf/bg@on_gandalf', 'user', 'pwd') I get: "Syntax disallowed on this server"... although this is what I derive from the perldoc DBD::Informix... Does anyone see a problem with this connect string? I've once been able to get odbc and jdbc remote connections to work, but I can't figure it out now... Informix manuals are not very specific on this subject (a lot of local examples, without any hostname). Anton. P.S. yes I got DBD::Informix installed and well - I had my stores db and env. variables in place - for the local config, of course.
