Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
A user reported that at a customer site (SuSE Linux 9.2, IDS 9.40) their application intermittently hangs and can no longer connect to the INFORMIXSERVER, with only "Maximum server connections 50" and fuzzy checkpoint entries in online.log; he wondered if the 20 runtime licences were to blame. Respondents asked for onstat -u/-g sql/-l output, the sqlhosts entries and whether connections were shared memory or network. It emerged that almost all connections were ipcshm (shared memory) with a couple of soctcp, and that NETTYPE in the ONCONFIG was commented out, pointing at poll-thread/connection-limit tuning. The thread ends there with no resolution recorded.

Hi all,
At a customer site we have the problem that at some moments the program
hangs. The only message I get in the online.log file is:
13:01:39 Maximum server connections 50
13:01:50 Fuzzy Checkpoint Completed: duration was 1 seconds, 1318 buffersnot flushed,
timestamp: 184446547.
Has it something to do with his licences? He has 20 runtime licences.
What can I do to resolve it?
thanks for any comment,
Danny

Danny,
Can you add:
OS version,
IDS version.
What the program is doing at the time of the hang - for example, get the
session id from onstat -u and run onstat -g sql session_id
onstat -l

OS: Linux SuSe 9.2
IDS. 9.40
The program can't make any connections too the INFORMIXSERVER

Are these connections shared memory or network?
JWC
What do you mean by this?

It's probably easier if you just let us see your sqlhosts file and the
setting of $INFORMIXSERVER

Thanks Dirk,
This instructions gives me 'ipcshm sqlexec' for 99% of the cases and 2
times 'scotcp soctcplst'

What are the values of NETTYPE in the configuration file?
JWC
These is a fragment of the configurationfile onconfig.ows.
I don't know exactly what to do with the NETTYPE variable.
# System Configuration
SERVERNUM 0 # Unique id corresponding to a OnLineinstance
DBSERVERNAME ol_govaerts # Name of default database server
DBSERVERALIASES tcp_govaerts # List of alternate dbservernames
NETTYPE #soctcp,1,150,CPU # Configure poll thread(s)for nettype
DEADLOCK_TIMEOUT 60 # Max time to wait of lock in distributed
env.
