ontape on hard drive - Could not write archive tape
Posted in 2005
I configured the onconfig file (Informix 9.40 on redhat ES 3 ) with
the following parameters so it can backup on hard drive:
TAPEDEV /tape # Tape device path
TAPEBLK 1024 # Tape block size (Kbytes)
TAPESIZE 230000000 # Maximum amount of data to put on
tape (Kbytes)
# Log Archive Tape Device
LTAPEDEV /logtape # Log tape device path
LTAPEBLK 1024 # Log tape block size (Kbytes)
LTAPESIZE 230000000 # Max amount of data to put on log
tape (Kbytes)
I am not a DBA but network administrator so I have to take care of the
Informix backup but as you can tell I do not know too much about
Informix.
I was trying to run otape -s manually
then entering level 0 when it asked
but that ask me to mount a tape and press Return.
I hit return but here is all I get:
Could not write archive tape. and then asks again: Please mount tape 1
on /tape and press Return to continue.
Actually the two directories which are actually hard drives mounted on
these directories. I made sure informix and root have write
permissions in there. Actually at a certain point I gave, owner, group
and others write permissions.
WHat am I doing wrong ?
I exported INFORMIXDIR=/apps/informix/9.40 which the informix directory
$INFORMIXSERVER=dbserver1_shm (found from ONCONFIG file
=/apps/informix/9.40/etc/onconfig.dbserver1) This information was
given to me from the people who installed the db.
Please help me to backup archives and logical logs on disk.
Any suggestion is welcomed.
