I have left my docs at work and am stuck right now attempting to
insert a sizable chunk of text into a table with a TEXT type column.
I know that:
insert into table (text_col)
values ('string longer then 256 will not work')
won't work.
Can some please tell me the syntax for a sql statement that will
insert into a text type column.
JL: It isn't clear from your message which language you are using. If you're playing
with DB-Access, the only statement that will work is a LOAD statement, and you need
the data in the file formatted correctly. If you are using ESQL/C or I4GL, then you
need to create a loc_t or TEXT variable which is initialized appropriately and then
use this in the VALUES list - or, in I4GL, use the LOAD statement again.
There isn't a way to specify a blob (TEXT or BYTE) literal in (Informix's dialect of) SQL.
