Yes, it is possible to use the GCC compiler with I4GL. However, as it used to say in the release notes (you did read them, didn't you?), you need to use the -fwritable-strings option as otherwise you get core dumps when the I4GL library code tries to modify some non-writable strings. It also isn't clear that Informix supports the use of GCC. Unfortunately, I find that this important piece of information is missing from the 6.05 release -- it was present in the 4.13 and 6.01 release notes. I'm pissed off because I put this information in the release notes to stop me having to answer this question. The best laid plans of mice and men go oft astray!
