I can't help but think the question shouldn't be is the tool any good
or not.
What is needed is to understand the amount of downtime (and data loss)
your business can cope with in the event of a serious hardware
failure.
ontape and onbar are 2 of the tools that Informix provides to get your
system back up and running.
Basically if the tool can meet your business' requirements then it is
good.
The business needs to be realistic. You can't recover 50Gb in 30 secs.
If thats the downtime requirement then other utilities that informix
provides, plus utilities the OS vendor provides should be looked at to
minimse the downtime.
If the tool can meet the business requirements then its a good tool.
