iiug download of 12.10.FC1DE.win has a virus!
Posted in 2013
User reported finding Conficker virus in Informix 12.10.FC1DE Developer Edition downloaded from IIUG website on Windows 7. IIUG Board member Art Kagel offered to investigate and clean the IIUG version, suggesting user try downloading directly from IBM instead. Another user couldn't reproduce the virus detection; no resolution was confirmed.

I downloaded developer edition to my Win7(64) box. I unzipped the file and the instalation window appeared distorted and Microsoft Security Essentials detected the ConFicker virus! Will IBM ever get the Windows version of Inforemix working properly or its not a priority?
The proper place to complain is to IBM Informix tech support. Open a case. I will report it, however, the iiug webmaster should also check their server as the ConFicker virus could be payloaded from within.
Try downloading the Developer Edition directly from IBM. I am on the IIUG Board and will look into the IIUG Edition and clean that up if needed. Art Art S. I have downloaded and scan the files for virus with an updated anti-virus and it found nothing. I'm sure IIUG board will take a close look at this as it's a serious issue (or they already did and fix it). No entity (IBM, IIUG or any other) appreciate a situation like what you described. Having said this, why would it necessarily be IBM's fault? Was the file downloaded from IBM website? No. IIUG's site. Have you downloaded it from IBM? Apparently not. And what would this have to do about IBM attitude about Windows port? I'd say you're extrapolating what would be a very undesirable error (assuming you're right and the package was infected) into something even worst, but that's just my personal opinion. Regards. Fernanado, As far back as 11.10.xCDE, the Windows version has had problems like server crashes, not being able to init it, etc. My discovery of the ConFicker virus when downloading Developer Edition via iiug was an additional surprise!
