RE: Can VIPs (Virtual IPs) be used for Informix?

IDS: 11.50 OS: Linux Can Informix work with Virtual IP's ? We will have a primary and secondary server, we have different peripheral devices that rely on the primary IP address. If we have to switch from primary to secondary we think this is where the VIP might come into play to assist in less down time, but not real sure at this point. We will be using Enterprise Replication and not HDR between primary and secondary database servers. I'm not sure what you are really doing, but am guessing. You can use multiple IP addresses to get between ER nodes. Just configure them in the same way that you would configure an HDR pair as an ER node. OR Use each server as load balancing between the 2.
