Are you sure they disconnected from the database, or did they
just disconnect from the application?
It is possible that in your application, the users just disconnect
from the application. But the application still has an open connection
to the database.
When you you end a database session (connection) the connection should
also terminate. It is not standard practice to onmode -z or kill -9
something. Unless of course there is a problem with the connection
or process.

hi all,
some times I have users that are disconnected from the server informix (IDS
version 7.30 under AIX 4.3.2). but there sessions informix are still runing
in the server. so my question is : do I need juste kill there informix
sessions (onmode -z <session_number> ) or i must kill there unix sessions
to(kill -9 <pid_number>).
