Veritas Netbackup to schedule onbar

Hi everyone. I have a IDS 9.4 database that uses Veritas netbackup to schedule
the onbar backups on a Unix AIX machine. General question...If I were to need
to do an onbar restore there is no reason why I would not just do a typical
command line driven onbar restore...is that correct? In other words just
because Veritas Netbackup schedules the onbar backups I would still (from the
unix command prompt) simply do an onbar -r -w (as example) for a full restore?
Does that sound right?
Yes sir, that is exactly right.
Also, just because netbackup is doing a regularly scheduled backup doesn't
stop u from running a backup at the onbar command line either (ie if u need a
backup for some special reason and ur netbackup person is not avail to kick it
off in netbackup, u can run it at command line.....).
All netbackup is doing is calling an onbar script anyway...... Netbackups
timer goes off and it executes a script on ur server and that script runs the
onbar command.... Your script, your command.... U can add anything to that
script u want, and u can run it whenever u want and it will still talk to
netbackup....
Depending on ur netbackup admin, u may want to be kind and let them know when
u r doing a backup or restore.....
Netbackup and onbar work very well together.
Enjoy!
