RE: OFF_RECVRY_THREADS and ON_RECVRY_THREADS
Posted in 2001
I recently attended an Informix Internals class. According to my instructor, the OFF_RECVRY_THREADS parameter affects logical recovery operations. Each thread is assigned for recovery of a different table. The instructor recommended the following settings: * OFF_RECVRY_THREADS = 25 * <NUMCPUVPS> * ON_RECVRY_THREADS: Usually set at 1 to minimize the impact to other sessions, when rolling back aborted tasks. (Can be set higher). My instructor indicated that the engine may generate a message if OFF_RECVRY_THREADS is set higher than was necessary. Such messages can be ignored, because the engine will only use as many threads as are necessary. Has anyone else had good or bad experiences with non-default settings for these $ONCONFIG parameters? -----Original Message----- From: Earle A Long [mailto:earle@btclick.com] Sent: Tuesday, January 16, 2001 09:23 To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: OFF_RECVRY_THREADS and ON_RECVRY_THREADS Does anyone have any experience of these parameters and what their effect on restore times is ??? -- Earle A Long (Senior Informix DBA) SINGLEPOINT UK LTD
