Re: Who supports the LIMIT clause in a SELECT statement

Just some ramblings... >MySQL has this cool feature where you can specify how many (and >which) rows are returned from a SELECT statement. I was wondering >if any other, more full featured, databases (e.g. Oracle, Sybase, >Informix, etc.) have this feature. OpenINGRES x.yz should. Way back when i used to work with Ingres (4-5 years ago, was Ingres 6.4 then), i remember it had a very fancy resource manager, you could specify how many io's/rows/something-else-i-dont-recall you would allow per user/group/role. We used it as a selling point (Server applies restrictions prior to executing sql using the cost base optimiser and stats, nobody else has this, ra, ra, ra). Actually those days there were a lot of things Ingres had which (some) other databases didn't have: event alerters, a replicator, cost-based optimiser, ... I suppose its academic to you since this *is* the Informix list, but maybe we can stick onto the wish list for the next version. Or is there already such a facility, in which case i would have to go looking for an edible hat. -- /* ----------------------------------------------------- * * Willem Roos wroos@shoprite.co.za * * roosj@mweb.co.za * * 0(+27)21 980 4941 * * 0(+27)21 919 0198 * * ----------------------------------------------------- */
