I like to know Robin, Don't know the answer to your question, but just found out something at a tangent. I've been in discussions with Informix the last week about improving customer support. One of my complaints is, "Why isn't there some certification at the support level", i.e. the person who opens the Informix box for the first time may need support which first asks "is the computer turned on". An experienced DBA may only call with tough, source-code-type problems. Why should the experienced DBA have to go through the same queue as the newbies? Turns out that this is part of the certification program. Certified DBAs supposedly will get a different level of support. This alone would make the certification worthwhile.
