Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Hi everyone,
We are a new Informix site running onLine 7.1 on a Sun Sparc 20. I have
been playing with the Ontape utility trying to perform backups and have
encountered the following problem:
* The backup seems to work fine using ontape -s -L 0
* The archive is committed by the onLine engine
* The restore procedure invoked with ontape -r goes through the
motions and prints tape archive data, Dbspaces, Chunks etc.
* But when it comes to the crunch the thing bombs out with the
following message:
'Physical restore failed - function read archive backup failed
code 1 errno 4'
NB. The tape unit is an Exabyte Exb-8500 8mm cartridge unit and
works fine with the UNIX archive utilities.
I have tried archiving with several different blocking
factors as this is the one parameter that is mentioned in
the Informix literature as possibly being problamatic.
Thanking You,
Tom
