[informix users bb: 25GB tape backup]

Bob...from their literature..."(Contemporary Cybernetics) CY-8500 provides between 5GB and 25GB of storage capacity per tape. By utilizing helical scan recording technology and read and write head pairs, transfer rates reach up to 90MB per minute, depending on the speed of the host system. With high speed search capability, the CY-8500 can search the data at 75 times the normal search speed...liquid crystal display...data compression feature supported...data encryption lets you control access to sensitive data through the use of uniquely encoded card keys...turnkey solutions for wide variety of site configurations...tabletop or 19" rack...cable length up to 80 ft....family of tape backup subsystems with capacities ranging from 150MB to 2TB." There was someone at saad-emh1.army.mil, but her name escapes me at the moment, who is using the Cybernetics 82/8500. Perhaps the postmaster would know who? Sorry for the faulty memories, but its been a year or so... Also, might want to touch base with PCS Technologies...less expensive but a unique software package allows faster read/write yet. Not sure about their capacity on a tape, but it is up there...Sales for Cybernetics: 800 873- 9000. Sales for PCS Technologies: (215)226-2339. Nice small company.
