Greeting. Does anyone know if any version of SE supports data replication? Thanks, Dick Brieck

I did once write an sqlduplex program which was forked by the application in place of sqlexec. The sqlduplex program then arranged to connect to an sqlexec on a remote machine and an sqlexec on the local machine, and wrote every request to both sqlexecs and read the responses and complained if they weren't substantially the same. The application could get away with it because the only time SERIAL columns were used, the database was effectively running single-user; it didn't have to deal with UserA on MachineA and UserB on MachineB both trying to insert at the same time. I don't have a general solution for that problem. Oh, and it provided a degree of resiliency, too -- if one server went down, sqlduplex went into a feed-through mode to the other server. The system ran a Football Results Reporting Service for a while (soccer, for the Americans reading this). It had to stay up in the period 15:00 - 18:00 on Saturday afternoon come hell or high water... This was in the days before OnLine provided replication. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v1.00.PC1 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
