ontape log dump intervale

How is the threshold determined for ontape to know when to write to the
LTAPEDEV device? I have my logs going to disk instead of tape, and it looks
like the threshold is .4%, but I want to raise that if possible. I am running
11.70.FC4.
I don't understand the question.
If you run ontape -a it archives any logical logs that are completed (or at
least no longer in use) and prompts you to determine if it should also
archive the log currently in use. If you run ontape -c it archives each
logical log as soon as it has been released (either filled or switched away
from with onmode -l) and waits. If you are using the ALARMPROGRAM and
trapping event # 23 (logical log complete) it just runs ontape if you have
it configured to do so, so the first sentence in this paragraph applies.
So, 0.4% of what is the apparent threshold for ontape to do what exactly?
