On the one project on which I used compiled Informix-4GL 4.10.xx, we used the HIDE OPTION and SHOW OPTION *very* extensively. Our project ran on Sun Sparcs of various sizes, and we *never* encountered a problem with this feature. Larry did not identify the system on which he had his problems, but Robert identifies his as SCO 3.2.2. I have been told that Sun is one of Informix's primary development platforms. My lack of problems *may* indicate that the bug was introduced during port to other systems, or maybe our project was just lucky and never used the combination of whatever that causes the hang. I hope our lack of problems on Sun helps the Informix bug exterminators solve this one. I think the HIDE/SHOW OPTION is one of the best additions to 4GL at the 4.00/4.10 level.
