Re: Multiple Residency & Shared Memory

Guess each has their own way... 8-)
A database (not engine) may be started
by a user other than Informix depending
on the application, how it was designed
and what it was designed to do.
With a rather large company (lets say the mouse)
and limited resources (dba's that have been
around longer then 6 months) it is easier
to remove shared mem by owner. And that way
you would not need to be calculating an instances
shared memory.
Many factors go into how databases are started
and how shared mem is cleared.
