Re: Archiving in BaaN

Connecting external packages to BaaN seems to be difficult........ maybe impossible. The main problem is their tables, all of them without Primary Key and Unique Indexes using hashing fields calculated by a "secret" algorithm. We are working with Baan Triton 3.1 (previous version of Baan IV) and we have to use porting level 1 for Informix database... this level needs hash fields. Without this algorithm you can access to Baan tables to read and erase records but you can't modify the fields of these records and, of course, you can't insert records so you can't connect external packages. I don't know if somebody out of Baan knows this algorithm. This will be the solution to share the tables to other applications. I think that for Informix database exists (or perhaps will exist) a porting level 2, this porting can run without hash fields and then you can access the Baan tables to read, erase, modify, insert,... this level will only run to Baan IVc
