th_build_ffffffff with 1000 extents

Hi all, we had some strange application behaviour today and have discovered that - at that time - the table th_build_ffffffff (some temporary internal informix table) grew up to 1000 extents. The message was reported by a monitoring tool (ITO on HP-UX) - not in the message log. What does this message mean ? How to avoid it ? Thanks for your help. K.-H. Braun.
