Can somebody explain what exaclty some of those numbers mean?
Here is the listing:
=>onstat -g ioq
Informix Dynamic Server Version 7.31.UC2A -- On-Line -- Up 04:48:47 --
162720 Kbytes
AIO I/O queues:
q name/id len maxlen totalops dskread dskwrite dskcopy
adt 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
msc 0 0 1 1422 0 0 0
aio 0 0 56 113 8 2 0
pio 0 0 1 1172 0 1172 0
lio 0 0 1 4867 0 4867 0
gfd 3 0 13 2567 2379 188 0
gfd 4 0 16 17605 16836 769 0
gfd 5 0 16 3455 2528 927 0
.......
gfd 30 0 1 2 2 0 0
gfd 31 0 1 2 2 0 0
What does gfd stand for ? Also what does len, max len and totalops stand
for? Does a maxlen of 56 means that that is what longest queue was for
that vp. I seem to have 56 aio processes running judging by output of
onstat -g glo. The documentation says to look at this output todetermine if the number or aio requests waiting is growing. How do I
exaclty get that out of continous running of this command?
Internally we use the gfd (Global file descriptor) instead of simply fd for
each of the chunks. This is because the global file descriptor is common
for each of the vps while the local file descriptor would not.
The maxlen is the maximum length of the queue of outstanding requests for
the queue.the aio queue maxlen of 56 means that you had at least 56
generalized outstanding requests to be done by the aiovp, possibably during
startup when reading the config files and such. Notice that the total
number of operations was only 113. That is an indication on just how much
slower aoivp work can be. I'm guessing that your first chunks include your
logging devices. That's probably why the activity on them appear to be
higher than the later.
