More than one person has questioned my intentions on this one. I have found the need to dynamically change DBDATE because I have a single 4GL program that is unloading data into ascii files to be loaded in systems around the world. Each system may have a different DBDATE so I must unload my data to match theirs. I have found it easiest to use the 'unload' command since it provides pipe delimited files. (I also realize that we could agree on a single DBDATE to be used worldwide but it is not as easy as one might think.) -jeff frabutt (jfrabutt@pts.mot.com) >You will probally have to export DBDATE also in your "C" program/shell. >But a DBA Q here: why are you doing this at a 4gl level? > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Cheryl Kendricks> Internet:cherylk@prod1.jcdc.doleta.gov OR cherylk@gwysmtp.jcdc.doleta.gov >------------------------------------------------------------------------ > >On Wed, 29 May 1996, phr (Peter Harris) wrote: > >} >} Berton, >} >} Try writing a c function that calls putenv("DBDATE=whatever") and then >} link that >} into you 4gl.
