I received the following reply via E-Mail: I don't have an Informix OLE DB Provider but I reproduced your example and used the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers. I used The Informix CLI 2.5 ODBC Drivers for the Connection. Everything worked fine! That leaves me with the impression that the Informix OLE DB Provider is indeed the culprit. So what's the reason for putting the quotes around the identifiers?
